My First Month with Ambio Media

I can’t believe it’s already been a month, it feels like yesterday I was scrambling about my house to get a shirt and tie ready for my interview with Ambio. The first month has flown in, zoom calls to new york, learning web development and search engine optimisation amongst other things. Things are going in the right direction.

Why did I like the first month with the company?

My first month with the company was new and exciting to me, I got to meet a lot of people albeit, via zoom, and I was constantly learning new skills.

It challenged me to come out of my comfort zone. I was on a Zoom call with customers from the US on my very first day, listening to a conversation that wasn’t the easiest to follow because I was completely new to this.

I think the most important reason I liked my first month with Ambio was that I felt like I was actually needed and appreciated. What I did every day was stress lifted off Aidan’s shoulders as it was a task less for him to complete - something he didn’t have to worry about getting done.

Why is it something I’m enjoying?

My work continues to challenge me every day, whether that will still be the case in 6 months time I don’t know. But for right now, every day has something new, a fresh challenge, something I may not have seen before, and that’s one of the things I like about it.

I’m coming more into my element, I’m contributing more to every conversation I’m involved in now, I understand the processes and have enough knowledge to say my piece. I may not always be right but my opinion is always valued and considered which is good enough for me.

Most of all it’s furthering my knowledge and my career, supporting my long term goals because I’m making valuable connections which can only be a good thing.

How is the work I’m doing supporting my long-term goals?

The work I’m currently doing is a very good bridge to my long term goals because it's relevant to my degree in Business Management. I’m getting to do work close to what I imagined doing when I earned my degree.

Furthermore, I feel like this is a great experience for me and could potentially be the long term goal, to work for Ambio and take the position as far as I can. Either way, it’ll bring me closer to my goal of living comfortably with a pool and snooker room in my house - after all, we all have dreams!

How do I feel one month after my first day?

I feel grateful that I’ve been given the chance to show what I can do in the role, and I’m happy with the way things are currently progressing. I feel like I’ve yet to show the full potential of what I can achieve, but hopefully that will come.

Maybe things will feel more normal once we get to an office environment in a post covid world. However, that’s something I haven’t personally experienced as of now, so who knows.
